Praise For THE LITTLE BOOK OF ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENTS "Ben and Phil have done it again. Another lucid, insightful book, designed to enhance your wealth! In today's stock-addled cult of equities, there is a gaping hole in most investors' portfolios...the whole panoply of alternative investments that can simultaneously help us cut our risk, better hedge our inflation risk, and boost our return. This Little Book is filled with big ideas on how to make these markets and strategies a treasured part of our investing toolkit." —Robert Arnott, Chairman, Research Affiliates "I have been reading Ben Stein for thirty-five years and Phil DeMuth since he joined up with Ben ten years ago. They do solid work, and this latest is no exception." —Jim Rogers, author of A Gift to My Children "If anyone can make hedge funds sexy, Stein and DeMuth can, and they've done it with style in this engaging, instructive, and tasteful how-to guide for investing in alternatives. But you should read this Kama Sutra of investment manuals not just for the thrills, but also to learn how to avoid the hazards of promiscuous and unprotected investing." —Andrew Lo, Professor and Director, MIT Laboratory for Financial Engineering

Oglaf Book One

Author: Doug Bayne
Publisher: Topatoco
ISBN: 1936561980
Pages: 208
Year: 2017-01-24
Since 2009, Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne's hilarious and fithy comic strip OGLAF has entertained hundreds of thousands of online readers. Set in a fantasy world complete with knights and wizards, elves and monsters, OGLAF satirizes the tropes of genre fiction and contemporary sexual mores at the same time, resulting in both hilarity AND smutty scenes between people (and sometimes creatures) of every size, shape, and color. Some episodes stand alone, while others combine in short story arcs. Among the stories in this first volume is the introduction of the teasing Mistress and her unlucky apprentice Ivan, cursed with eternal sexual frustration; the adventures of the dangerous and seductive Thief; the forbidden love of the barbarian Kronar, Son of Man; the eternal winter of the never-satisfied Snow Queen; the many innovations of the sexsmith dwarves; and of course, Oglaf the illiterate shepherd boy discovering his secret power. This volume contains graphic cartoon nudity and is intended only for adults.
Screening China's Soft Power

Screening China's Soft Power

Author: Paola Voci, Luo Hui
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1317209435
Pages: 266
Year: 2017-10-02
Promoting China's cultural soft power by disseminating modern Chinese values is one of the policies of President Xi Jinping. Although, it is usually understood as a top-down initiative, implemented willingly or unwillingly by writers, filmmakers, artists, and so on, and often manifesting itself in clumsy and awkward ways, for example, the concept of "the Chinese dream," intended to rival and perhaps appeal more strongly than "the American dream," modern Chinese values are in fact put forward in many ways by many different cultural actors. Through analyses of film festivals, CCTV, Confucius Institutes, auteurs, blockbusters, reality TV, and online digital cultures, this book exposes the limitations of China's officially promoted soft power in both conception and practice, and proposes a pluralistic approach to understanding Chinese soft power in local, regional, and transnational contexts. As such, the book demonstrates the limitations of existing theories of soft power, and argues that the US-derived concept of soft power can benefit from being examined from a China perspective.

Welcome to the new world order, where mass media, a fully integrated public-opinion-forming machine of mind control had rendered the Left and Right obsolete and subservient to Zionism. Who are the people who own and operate this machine? Are they actually the Jewish Lobby? No, says Shamir. The formidable Jewish Lobby is just the visible tip of the iceberg, while below there are miles and miles of solid ice: media lords, chief editors, their favourite university pundits â in short, the Masters of Discourse. In this third volume of his writing, Israel Shamir travels around the world to find the reason for their captive hold over our thinking.
